New Delhi, Nov. 26, 2016: ‘Teeny Weeny Fun Fair’ themed ‘Plants- Green Buddies’ encompassed myriad creative activities and novel fun games which provided an insight into the fascinating world of plants, their utility in the human world and their indispensable role in our lives. The event aimed at developing the observation, concentration, memorisation and motor skills of a child. These hands-on activities were carried out throughout the year as a thematic teaching-learning process.
The chief guest for the event was Mrs. Rooplekha Kukreja, a freelancer who conducts life skill workshops for teachers and is also closely associated with SCERT for the past 20 years. She lauded the School for inculcating awareness for a greener environment, highlighting the vital role of plants in maintaining an eco-friendly surrounding while working towards the holistic development of students.
The event also witnessed encouraging participation of the parents in innovative fun activities and games. The exhibition ‘Make Waste Matter’ and ‘Things we get from Plants’ was one of the biggest attractions of the fair. Stalls displayed the creative activities of the students like wall decor, hanky imprint, table mats and potpourri from dried petals. These were bought by the students with special ‘Teeny Weeny currency’. The potter’s wheel drew students in large numbers wherein they tried their hand at moulding pots and glasses. Making flowers from origami tissue paper and weaving garlands using Curry and Neem leaves were an added attraction for both the parents and students. Teachers from other schools also visited the fair and appreciated the endeavour of the students and teachers.
