New Delhi, October 14, 2014: International Peace Day was celebrated by students, parents and teachers in the School wherein a senior school special assembly was conducted, starting with a video of a peace song named 'A Song for Peace'. It was followed by the recitation of a poem written by a faculty member, Ms. Meenakshi Bhatanagar. Later, a short skit titled 'Shanti Path' was staged depicting the conflicts prevailing in the name of religion and how we can prevent them & follow the path to peace.
The gathering was also shown a video about Mr. Prem Rawat, who is internationally recognised as an ambassador of peace. The audience was enthralled by a melodious chorus with inspiring lyrics on peace and harmony & a captivating dance on the theme of ‘Peace’.
Dr. A.K. Merchant, a National Trustee of Lotus Temple in New Delhi and the Baha’i Community of India, addressed the gathering & stressed on the need for peace in the world today. He also conducted a very interesting activity with children to make them understand the value of love, peace, harmony, patience and compassion. The assembly concluded with the 'Peace Pledge' taken by the students and the staff. The gathering then moved to the ‘Peace Pole’, a symbol for world peace in the School, to light candles.
Besides the assembly, the other events conducted were Inter-House Slogan Writing, Poster Making, Rangoli Making and T-shirt Painting Competition.
