The International Peace Day was celebrated by students, parents and teachers on September 29, 2012, at Apeejay School, Saket. The programme started with a projection of two short video films on ‘Peace One Day’ produced by students. This was followed by a melodious chorus with inspiring lyrics on peace and harmony in nature and humanity at large. The message of peace at the individual, social and global level was depicted through a short skit, poem recitation and chanting of ‘Shanti Path’. Students of the primary wing dressed as apostles of peace from different parts of the world and religion conveyed the message of brotherhood and oneness. The thought of unity in diversity, unanimity and love was communicated beautifully through a synchronized dance performance.

The gathering then moved towards the specially erected peace pole, a symbol of wish for world peace, where they lit candles .This was followed by tying of peace bands and pinning of peace badges under the peace tree, with symbols of different religions hanging from its branches. Everyone shared a cup of tea and expressed their views about the necessity of sowing the seeds of peace and harmony in society.

The group led by the Principal, parents ,students and teachers carrying placards with messages of peace, proceeded for a peace march in the neighbourhood area.

The students of Sarvodya Kanya Vidyalaya , a government school in the neighbourhood too joined hands with us in this endeavor of celebration of International Peace Day.
