New Delhi, July 29, 2016: The fifth Dr. Stya Paul Memorial Mathematics Quest was hosted by the School on July 28 & 29, 2016. The first day event witnessed an over-zealous participation by 24 reputed schools of Delhi and NCR region. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp accompanied by Ganesh Vandana serenaded by the School choir to seek the Almighty’s blessings. The School Principal, Mrs. Anita Paul welcomed the chief guest, teachers and participants of various schools.
The event was inaugurated by eminent Prof. Dr. Dharmaraja, Department of Mathematics, IIT Delhi, who emphasised the importance of revision in Mathematics in order to consolidate and retain its concepts in the memory. He also asserted on the importance of giving real life examples to make mathematical problems relatable and comprehensible.
Rohan Jain of Class X and Nimayak Luthra of Class IX unravelled an enriching presentation on the interesting and intriguing aspect of ‘Prime Numbers’. Six innovative competitions, namely, Maths Extempore, Pattern-o-metry, Ori-geometry, Maths Model Making, Sudo Relay and Maths Quiz were diligently and enthusiastically tackled by the participating schools which were judged by a team of illustrious judges. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the participating schools. Amity International School, Gurgaon was the proud recipient of the rolling trophy.
The event culminated on the second day with a paper presentation on ‘Innovative Practices in Mathematics at Elementary School’. Seventeen teachers from fifteen schools participated in the paper presentation which was judged by eminent mathematicians, Dr. Anup Rajput and Dr. Dharamprakash. Ms Upasana from The Indian School and Ms. Monica Danthy from Apeejay School, Saket were credited with the best paper presentations.
