New Delhi, October 9, 2013: The school hosted the second Dr. Stya Paul Memorial Mathematics Quest on October 8 and 9, 2013. The first day witnessed an over-zealous participation by 36 reputed schools from Delhi-NCR. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp, followed by Durga Stuti to invoke the blessings of the goddess. It was followed by a welcome address by the principal of the school, Mrs. Anita Paul.
Satyarth Arora and Dashmesh from the school unravelled the fascinating aspects of Vedic Geometry through an interesting presentation. The chief guest, Dr. Hukum Singh, Former Dean-Mathematics, NCERT, motivated the students to overcome their phobia for Mathematics and work towards a field award in Mathematics. The five innovative competitions namely Magic Squares, Mathematical Relay, Mathematical Quiz, Mathematical Modelling and Mathematics Extempore received an enthusiastic response from the participating schools where students from class II to class XII took an active part. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the participating schools.
The rolling trophy for the event went to St. George’s School , Alaknanda.
The event culminated on the second day with a workshop for 55 teachers from 22 schools on the use of ICT in the teaching and learning of Mathematics. It was conducted by Mrs. Susmita Pruthi, National Head, Learning and Delivery Management and Information System, School Learning Solution, NIIT Limited.
