New Delhi, July 26, 2019: The 8th Annual Dr Stya Paul Memorial Mathematics Quest was organised in the School on July 25 and 26, 2019. Twenty five reputed schools from Delhi and NCR participated in a variety of competitions like Logic-O-Run, Rangometry Sudoku, Toys from Trash , Mind Teasers, etc. which were conducted at different venues on the first day of the event. These were based on mathematical principles, reasoning and logic. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr Vishwajanani Sattigeri, Scientist and Head, Traditional Knowledge Digital Library Unit, CSIR.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp to invoke the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. This was followed by an enchanting dance performance by the students. Praney Surha of Class XII (Science) expounded the application of Mathematics in Origami through a marvellous presentation. The 7th volume of the Mathematics newsletter ‘Mathemaxim’ was also released by the honourable Chief Guest on this occasion. The overall Winners Trophy was bagged by Apeejay School, Noida team. The winners in all the events were felicitated at the Valedictory function in the School auditorium.
The second day of Dr Stya Paul Memorial Mathematics Quest 2019 comprised paper presentation on ‘Innovative Practices in Teaching & Learning of Mathematics’ by teachers from 14 recognised schools of Delhi and NCR. It was adjudged by Dr T.P. Sharma, Professor, DESM, NCERT. The first best paper award was won by Ms Suman Saluja of Apeejay School, Pitampura. The second best paper award was bagged by Ms Pooja Mendiratta from the Indian School. It was an enriching experience for all participants.
