New Delhi, December 3, 2014: A workshop on 'Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in Children' was held in Fortis Healthcare, Shalimar Bagh. It was discussed that according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR), "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder defined by the process of obsessions or compulsions that produce significant distress and cause noticeable interference with functioning in domains such as work and school, social and leisure activities, and family settings."

The topics discussed included OCD in Children, Obsessions, Compulsions, Changes in DSM-V, BDD Symptoms, Diagnosable Disorder, Hoarding symptoms, Trichotillomania Symptoms, How Trichotillobizarre is different from Trichotillomania, Excoriation (Skin-Picking) Symptoms, Identification in School, Signs and Symptoms, Consequences, Comorbidity, Biological Factors, Behavioural Factors, Psychosocial Factor, Intervention, Identification, Treatment, Steps for Exposure Response Prevention and Covert Compulsions.

To conclude the session, a research paper on ‘OCD in Children’ was discussed covering all the above mentioned points.
