119 students of class XI along with Mrs. Babita Kathuria and Mrs. Sarita Sharma attended the workshop on the Internship Programme "INSPIRE" organised by D S Kothari Centre for Research and Innovation in Science Education at Miranda House, University of Delhi from 11 July to Friday, 15 July 2011. Only those students who scored CGPA 10 and 9.8 in Class - X could participate in this workshop. More than 200 students from 30 schools across Delhi participated in this programme.

The welcome address was by Dr. Pratibha Jolly, Principal Miranda House and PI DSKC. She gave Introduction to INSPIRE Internship Program. The Inaugural Address was by Professor Dinesh Singh, Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi on the topic ‘Learning to be a Scientist – Some Role Models’.

There were many other eminent personalities who also gave their lectures on different topics like Beyond the Classroom; Cosmology: Dark Energy, Dark Matter ; Innovative Experiments in Science; Chemical Detection of Latent Fingerprints; Climate Change: Issues, Science and Solutions ; India Regional Climate Centre; Technology for the Future; Promise of Stem Cells; Dynamics and Self-assembly in Biological Systems, Indian Knowledge Traditions - Classical and Folk, The Power of Intellectual Property; The World at Low Temperatures. Each day the session ended with Hands-on Workshop Sessions which had 10 parallel workshops each containing student groups of 20. The topics included - Green pathways, Colours of gold and all that, Enzymes, The cell – life’s playground, The world in motion, Senses, simulations and video analysis, Forensics, Remote sensing, Lab on wheels where science principles were demonstrated through simple science experiments.

In all it was an innovative session and encouraged students for pursuing science in higher classes.
