New Delhi, Sep. 8, 2016: Institute Of Counsellor Training Research and Consultancy (ICTRC) organised a national convention of school counselors under Project ‘Paradigm’ at the India International Center, Lodhi Estate. The Convention was attended by Ritika Mehndiratta working as (PGT- Psychology) at Apeejay School, Pitampura The prominent speaker of the day was Dr. V.S Ravindran, Director - ICTRC, who is also a counseling psychologist. He has conducted various workshops on parenting skills, career counseling, emotional needs of children, etc.
The subject of discussion was ‘Aggression among School Children’ wherein Dr. Ravindran highlighted as to how aggression is spreading like an epidemic among various age groups and also how futile is the difference that exists between aggression & violence. He highlighted that physical aggression takes the form of violence. He also emphasised the role of various neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin - if found low, lead to aggression. Another eminent speaker was Dr. Sukriti Dubey who spoke about the mind of adolescences and how their mind is filled with various emotions of happiness, fear, pressure, excitement, etc.
This was followed by the address of Prof. Heena Thakar, Member - Innovative School Consortium wherein she enlightened the audience about the concept of the 21st Century school leaders and the vision of Dream, Design & Disrupt wherein the focus is on fostering innovation and creative disruption. The day was fruitful with many eminent dignitaries enlightening the audience on various topics and how there is a need for counseling among students.
