New Delhi, Feb. 27, 2016: Mrs. Prerna Bhushan attended a workshop by the Delhi State Science Teachers’ Forum on the occasion of National Science Day 2016, at Cambridge Foundation School, Rajouri Garden. This day was celebrated to pay tribute to Dr. C.V. Raman on his achievement of ‘Raman Effect’.
The occasion was graced by Prof.(Dr.)K.L. Chopra (Padmashree), Mrs. Anita Satia and Sh. Marcel Ekka. Prof. Chopra talked about Dr. C.V. Raman’s inventions and about his life history. He emphasised on learning by doing and passed the message to the teaching fraternity that teachers should draw examples related to the topic from day to day life so that the learning becomes interesting for the students. He added that these examples not only make the concept clear but also last long in the learner’s mind. In his speech, he also mentioned that ‘Wealth of any country is not gold but intellectual power of its people’.
Dr.Pragya,Life Member of DSSTF, gave presentation on the topic ‘Importance of Soil’,which included formation &texture of soil and soil pollution. Mrs. Sundri and Mrs. Puneeta, Life Member of DSSTF, discussed experiments based on refraction and about true solution, colloids and suspension. The function was concluded by the speech of Mrs. Anita Satia, Director S.C.E.R.T &also alumna of the same school. She talked about hands-on practical and said that interest in Science can be instilled in the young minds by innovative experiments.
On the whole, the whole experience was enriching and educative.
