New Delhi, August 6, 2021: Ms. Shweta Taneja, Apeejay School, Faridabad, and Ms. Purnima Vohra, Education Officer, Apeejay Education, organised a workshop on the topic ‘Bliss of Gratitude’. It was attended by In-charges of the Primary Department and teaching faculty of Classes III-V of Apeejay School, Pitampura, Panchsheel Park, and Saket.

The session was an endeavour to remind the participants to take notice of all that is already present and abundant in their lives and consciously learn to focus and acknowledge the simple fact that life is a blissful gift. The session enumerated a few activities that could be used to nurture an attitude of gratitude and also some beautiful ways of expressing gratitude. These involved teaching gratitude to children by helping them practice it in different ways through making a gratitude jar, writing gratitude or thank you notes, making a daily gratitude inventory, maintaining gratitude journals and a few games incorporating the use of a gratitude dice, a five in a row game and designing gratitude slips. The concept of Naikan - Japanese self-reflective psychotherapy that means ‘looking inside’ and is a structured method of self-examination and reflection to help people understand themselves and their relationships with others was also shared with the participants to create more fulfilling ties with others.

In her concluding remarks, Ms. Vohra said that we are role models for our children. We should inspire them to always express gratitude, as they are the leaders of tomorrow and have to be chiseled continuously with love, compassion, and values.

Sri Aurobindo firmly believed that the young students will always be inspired not by money or power or by beautiful buildings but by teachers who are cultivated citizens, men/women of education, enlightenment, and character.

To enhance the happiness quotient of the students and teachers, each teacher and student may prepare a gratitude journal and celebrate gratitude week in the school.
