New Delhi, Jan. 17, 2016: A group of children from Class X along with their teacher Ms. Sapna Sondhi visited the India International Centre for an interactive session with the US ambassador to India, H.E Richard Rahul Verma to commemorate the 88th birth anniversary of Martin Luther King Junior. Many schools had come to attend the session. The ambassador shared his childhood memories and how he had inculcated good values inspired by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr. Students got a chance to ask questions on the ideologies of Martin Luther King Jr. from the ambassador to which he answered and enlightened the gathering.
One of the students of Apeejay School, Pitampura – Disha Ray was chosen to ask a question and she wanted to know “How can peace prevail when the world is facing the global problem of terrorism?” Students of all the schools took out a peace march in the premises itself to commemorate the birth anniversary. The students also sang the peace anthem of Martin Luther King Junior “We Shall Overcome”.
It was an educative session for all the students.
