Delhi, Oct. 17, 2017: From time to time, Apeejay School, Pitampura has been organising various activities in the school to sensitize and spread awareness related to intellectual disability. To fulfill this motive, the School has walked hand in hand with Special Olympics Bharat since 2012.

It was a moment of pride for the School when Dr Timothy Shriver, Chairman, Special Olympics International from USA visited Apeejay School, Pitampura. Several other dignitaries who accompanied him included Shawn Ferguson, Special Advisor to Timothy Shriver at Special Olympics International and Simon Koh, Senior Director of Operations, Special Olympics - Asia Pacific and President of Special Olympics, Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur. Ms Catherine Ho, Director-Development, Special Olympics - Asia Pacific Office, Victor Vaz, National Sports Director of Special Olympics Bharat and Mukta Narain Thind, National Director – Organization Development were also warmly welcomed by the students and the staff.

To showcase the inclusion and the unified activities, two student leaders gave an overview of the journey of Apeejay School, Pitampura in collaboration with Special Olympics. A unified Aerobics performance and a game of Bocce’ was the perfect icebreaker between the students and the guests.

Dr Timothy Shriver presented a certificate of ‘Special Olympics National Unified Champion School’ to the School Principal. His words of appreciation and motivation uplifted the confidence of the students in their journey of learning the joy of sharing & acceptance.
