New Delhi, August 29, 2016: Known for organising eco-friendly programmes, Apeejay School, Pitampura, conducted a Tree Plantation Drive to promote the need for environment sustainability. The Drive, coordinated by Mrs. Rashmi Budhiraja under the guidance of the Eco Club In-charges, Mrs. Malini Sridhar and Mrs. Bhupesh Grewal, chose two public parks in the vicinity of Saraswati Vihar to spread their message.
Enthusiastic students from classes IX and X helped in planting approximately 70 saplings in the parks with the active support of the members of the ‘Resident Welfare Association’ of Saraswati Vihar (E- Block) and the members of the Badminton Club as well.
The school gardeners, Vinod Kumar Sinha & Mr. Mohammad Ansari also assisted the students, a day before the drive which led to the smooth planning and execution of the Drive. Students also emphasized the importance of a green cover for a cleaner and greener Delhi. Their efforts to spread the message of an environment friendly approach were appreciated by all.
Refreshments were served to all the students. Members of the RWA gifted water bottles to the students. Such programmes are a regular feature of the School calendar and help to inculcate an eco-friendly approach among the young students.
