New Delhi, Dec. 1, 2016: The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) and Apeejay School, Pitampura held two performances on 30 November 30 & December 1, 2016 to make students more aware about Indian culture and heritage.

Ustaad Johar Ali Khan, a renowned violinist along with Tabla player, Ustaad Raashid Zafar Ali Khan graced the occasion on Nov. 30. The programme started with a warm welcome, lighting of the lamp and the choir reciting the Gayatri Mantra and singing the song ‘Ek tu hi bharosa’.

Thereafter, Ustaad Ji played the violin, followed by Jugalbandi which mesmerised everyone. He also enlightened everyone on Thematic Music. He, very beautifully, played Theme Music for the scene of Ramayana when Ravana comes in the jungle for ‘Sita haran’. He also quizzed the children on Folk Music that he played on Violin. The students enjoyed every bit of the performance. He also played the evergreen song ‘Dama Dum Mast Kalandar’.

December 1 saw another enthralling performance by renowned Manipuri dancers, Guru Singhajit Singh Ji, & Charu Sija Mathur Ji along with other accompanying artistes. There were dances depicting Krishna & Radha and Arjun & Chitrangada. There was also a mesmerising dance performance with the drums, the Pung Cholom.

The event culminated with the national anthem, a collective salute to the nation.
