Delhi, Nov 18, 2021: The students of classes Nursery and I of Apeejay School, Pitampura celebrated Gurupurab on 17th November and Class KG celebrated on 18th November with great excitement and fervour to mark the birth anniversary of the first guru of Sikhs, Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The celebration started with a prayer followed by a ‘Tickly Tales' Story session which emphasised the principles and teachings of the pious soul, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It also focused upon the significance of Prabhat Pheri and Nagar Kirtan. The students paid tribute to the pious soul by spreading his divine message through poems, speeches, Shabad, and dance performances.
The children followed the Punjabi dress code, covered their heads during prayer, and looked very impressive. A few children spoke about the teachings of Guru Nanak Ji, it was followed by the chanting of Shabad Gurubani 'Ek Onkar' by the students in reverence and homage. Videos based on his life and spiritual journey were played for the students. In the end, the virtual tour to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib gave the young ones an insight into the religious practices in Sikhism after which the children had Kadha Prasad. The assembly concluded on a happy note with festive spirit and unbeatable excitement amongst the students.

Imbibing values at a tender age, adds to the overall personality development of the children. The students of the Primary section learnt about the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, which enlightened them towards the selfless service of mankind. The ‘storytelling session’ revolved around the value of human life, they learnt that it is priceless. So the students shared their life experiences, as to when they felt unique and valued. Some of them also shared the stories of Guru Nanak Dev Ji narrated to them by their elders.
