Delhi, Oct. 9, 2017: Nobel Peace Laureate Sh. Kailash Satyarthi started the Bharat Yatra on 11th September – a clarion call to make India safe for its children. Sexual abuse and exploitation of children has risen to an alarming proportion and steps to prevent this have to be taken so that there are no more lost childhoods. All Apeejay Schools pledged support for this noble cause and organised a range of activities on 11th October, from 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m., to sensitise their students towards this evil. The staff and students of Apeejay School, Pitampura, took up this campaign with much enthusiasm. The teachers were briefed about this campaign on 9th October by the School Vice-Principal. All students from classes I to XII were involved in different activities.
Class I – II: Class teachers explained about the ‘Good Touch and Bad Touch’, ‘Safe Circle’ with the help of stories, pictures, songs and worksheets.
Class III – VI: Students of classes III to VI had a special assembly on the topic ‘It is my body and nobody has a right to hurt it’. The School Vice-Principal conducted this session. Students made placards to give out the message. They also sang together a theme song. Towards the end of the session, teachers and students took a pledge to fight against this serious crime.
Interactive sessions were held for classes VII and VIII with the help of audio video aids. An exhibition of posters on the menace of child abuse and POCSO was also organised in the courtyard.
Students of classes IX and X participated in a slogan writing activity and classes XI and XII participated in essay writing on this theme.
It was a great learning experience for the students.
