Student Leader Convention 2016The 22nd Student Leader Convention 2016, organized by the Hwa Chong Institute, Singapore was attended by a group of fourteen students and two teachers. The theme of this year’s Convention was ‘Cohesive Communities, Synergized Societies’. The Convention served as a platform for global student leaders to discuss how harmony can be encouraged and further exhibited in their society. The topic was prepared, ideated and discussed in eight groups by students from various countries like New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea and other South Asian countries was an eye opener in itself. It was a three-day convention programme from 1st July to 3rd July 2016. The students prepared their presentations in their respective groups and participated in an exhibition on various topics related to ‘youth and crime’, ‘disputes among parents and youth’, ‘cyber bulling’ and many more. The students also got a chance to attend an interactive session with Mr. Baey Yam Keng, Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth. The organizing teams of the Programme arranged activities like ice breaker games and night fiesta for 120 delegates from different countries. The programme also included visits to the famous Universal Studios and Botanical Garden. The students also participated in the Grand Finale on the last day which was like a mini concert comprising dance, music and speeches. The Convention was a global platform for the students to interact with students from several countries which greatly enriched their learning experience.
