Bowled By Blair
On 28th September 2011, Ms. Vandana Adwani alongwith two students Saurav Kumar (XI-D) and Priyamvada Saraf (X-D) was invited at the British High Commissioner, Sir Richard Stagg’s, residence to meet Mr. Tony Blair, patron of Tony Blair Faith Foundation, accompanied by Mr. Rohan Gavaskar, to promote inter-faith harmony among students through his Tony Blair Faith Foundation.
The event’s highlight was a fun cricket match, inclusive of every participant along with Mr. Tony Blair and cricketer Rohan Gavaskar. to raise awareness of malaria prevention and the work it is doing in India to bring communities together against the disease. Malaria bed-nets were used in place of cricket nets to sensitize the participants towards the epidemic malady, i.e. malaria. The cricket match demonstrated the importance for communities to work together in the fight against the disease, by aiming to "knock malaria for six".
It was indeed a memorable and life-time experience for all of us.
Rendezvous with Tony Blair
On 27th September 2011, Mr. D.K. Bedi, Principal, Ms.Vandana Adwani, Programme In-charge, and Lakshi Bhatia (XI-C) got the opportunity to meet with Rt. Hon. Mr. Tony Blair at the Taj Palace, New Delhi.
The event commenced with Ms. Simmi Kher, India-Coordinator for Face to Faith giving a brief outline of the development of the programme in India. Mr. D. K. Bedi, Principal - Apeejay School, Pitampura also shared his experiences on being a part of this programme and highlighted the importance of this programme in transforming young minds by developing tolerance and acceptance of people from different cultures and religions.
In his speech, Mr. Blair discussed the objectives of his foundation that is to promote respect, friendship and understanding between the major religious faiths; and to make the case for faith itself as relevant, and a force for good in the world.
Meeting Rt. Hon. Tony Blair in person and interacting with him was an amazing experience.
Model Making Activity
Classes IX and X had their model making activity in Science and Social Science on 27th August 2011 and 3rd September 2011 respectively. Students were asked to select the topic of their own choice. They brought material for preparing the model from their home and prepared the model in the school. For the completion of their respective models, one entire day was assigned to them. The very next day students presented their models in front of the students and teacher judges. It was overall a good learning experience for the students.
