New Delhi, December 7, 2012: Apeejay School, Pitampura had the proud privilege of watching the great dancer Ms. Rama Vaidyanathan perform at an event organised in association with SPICMACAY – The society for promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Among Youth. Students of other schools were also invited for this spectacular Bharatnatyam performance.

Ms. Rama Vaidyanathan, one of the leading classical dancers of the country, has been awarded “Sanskriti Award” and “Jewel of India” by the Sri Lankan Government. She has also been honoured with the title of “Natya Kala Vipanchi” and also the prestigious ‘Kalai Maamani’ by the Tamil Nadu Government.

While delivering a lecture demonstration on Bharatnatyam to the students, Ms. Vaidyanathan explained the various aspects of the ancient dance form through beautiful expressions. She also explained the history of dance forms to the students. Talking about her dancing voyage, she said, “Dance is more than a profession. It is the manifestation of the inner self and the interpreter of the soul for me.” It was an enriching experience for the students and staff of the school.
