New Delhi, Feb. 2, 2017: Students of classes VIII & IX of the Astronomy Club of the School, along with Mrs. Sarita Sharma visited the Nehru Planetarium. The speakers of the session took out a few hours to interact and share a part of their immense knowledge of Planetary Sciences. The speakers included Mr. David Dubois, Ph.D student in Planetary Science Search Institute, France & is now working with NASA and Ms. Garima Singh, alumna of California Institute of Technology and is currently working at Subaru Telescope, Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Hawaii with the collaboration of NASA.
Mr. David discussed about his research on icy moons of our Solar System, mainly Europa, Titon & Triton – the moons of Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune respectively. Students also came to know about physical, chemical and geological features of these icy moons. Further in the session, Ms. Garima enlightened us about many exo-planets and methods of finding them in the vast extra-solar universe that we don’t know about.
It was an enriching experience for the students, who want to explore the cosmic world.
