Blood Donation Camp & Exhibition-cum-Open Day

New Delhi, July 22, 2017: The Interact Club of Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai, in collaboration with the Rotary Blood Bank organised a Blood Donation Camp. The joint efforts of the Interactors, teachers, alumni and parents made it possible to collect a total of 90 units of blood. The Camp was organised for a noble cause, that is, to meet the requirement of thalassemia patients who require frequent transfusion of blood.

On the same day, an ‘Exhibition-cum-Open Day’ on the theme ‘India Rising’ was also organised to showcase and appreciate the artistic projects/models and creative assignments done by the students from classes I to XII during the summer break. The exhibition was a grand affair with enthusiastic participation by the students.

Investiture Ceremony

New Delhi, July 28, 2017: Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai held the Investiture Ceremony in the School auditorium wherein Dr. Neha Berlia, Member of ­the Management Board of the Apeejay Stya and Svran Group graced the occasion as the esteemed Chief Guest.

The prefects made a grand entry into the auditorium, holding flags aloft, marching smartly to the beats of a patriotic song and took their positions on stage. The Ex-Head Boy and Head Girl handed over the School flag to the newly inducted Head Boy and Head Girl. Certificates were awarded to the outgoing team of prefects as well. The School Principal then administered the oath to the prefectorial team who received their badges from the Chief Guest. This was followed by an inspiring address by Dr. Neha Berlia.

The outgoing Head Boy and Head Girl then addressed the audience, thanking everyone for all the support they received. The newly elected Head Boy, Arnab Batra, then gave a speech expressing his gratitude to the institution and vowed to lead the prefectorial board with total dedication and sincerity. The Head Girl, Bhoomi Sharma, conveyed her delight on having such a wonderful team of prefects who would work with complete commitment to take the School to greater heights. A vote of thanks was proposed by the Prefectorial Board In-charge, Mrs. Reeta Kale. The function concluded with the School song and National Anthem.

STUDENTS’ WORKSHOP / SEMINARS

The Workshop was an interesting learning experience as it emphasised the importance of linking the concept to be taught in real life. Dr. Rashmi Kathuria emphasised on how to prepare a lesson to be taught in class, with 3Cs:

  • Content to be taught
  • Continuation (it should be linked with the previous knowledge)
  • Creativity should be kept in mind so as to be a base for future use of the concept in succeeding cases

The Workshop was attended by Ms. Sarika Sharma.

New Academic Session

New Delhi, April 3, 2017: The new academic session was initiated on April 1, 2017 with a Havan, invoking the blessings of the Almighty for a fruitful session ahead. All members of staff and Principal attended the Havan. On April 3, 2017 the new session began with Sarva Dharma Prayer and Saraswati Vandana.

Students’ Workshop/ Seminars

April 22, 2017

Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised a three-day session of Model United Nations, inviting students as delegates and members of different committees. Six students, along with Ms. Shruti Pandey, attended the programme. In the international press, the students were given a chance to express their views and question the delegates on their speeches. In the Commission on Status of Women as the delegates of UAE and Switzerland, students were given a chance to explore more about different societies and their opinion on the equal status of women.
Ishita won the Special Mention Award at AIPPM. Priyanshi won the Bet Journalist at CSW and Priya was won the Special Mention Award for the Best Caricaturist. Alina won the special mention award as a delegate of the UAE.

Catalyst Expo 2017 – A medical exhibition, ‘Catalyst’, was organised by the Students’ Union of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). 29 students of classes XI & XII along with the Science teachers, Ms. Seyada and Ms. Aanchal, attended the expo at AIIMS, New Delhi. The objective of this exposition was to help students make informed career choices in the field of medicine and to provide them with hands-on experience. The students were made aware of the functioning and mechanism of each organ of the human body in the Anatomy Lab, correlating the theoretical part to the live practical.

The Legal Literacy Workshop was conducted by the ‘The South Court Complex’ wherein the students of classes IX to XII were made to understand the functioning of the Civil Court, Criminal Court, Family Court, Mediation Centre & DLSA Office, apart from talk on the Justice Dispensation System by the Judge of District and Sessions Court of Delhi.

One-day workshop on Disaster Management under the National School Safety Programme (NSSP), to promote a culture of disaster preparedness in the School, was held at DIPSAR, Pushp Vihar. Mrs. Neeta Hansuka attended the Workshop.

April 15, 2017

The Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) organised the 5th Ved Ratna Memorial Lecture along with a demonstration session on Experimental Activities in Physics. The programme was held at Navyug School, Peshwa Road, New Delhi. Dr. R.K. Awasthi, Prof. D.K. Avasthi, Mr. R.K. Tyagi and Mr. R.K. Tiwari were the Chief Guests for the programme. Ms. Aanchal Panwar attended the programme.

Ms. Suneeta Gupta attended a seminar conducted by Avishkaar Box at Radisson Blue Hotel, Paschim Vihar. Mr. Tarun Bhalla, CEO and Founder of Avishkaar Box gave an insight into the setting of ATLs at schools by NITI Aayog.
They also demonstrated robots by building blocks and 3D printers by Shaper Jet.

A special assembly was organised by Class VI C on the theme ‘We are One’ wherein students showcased the value of being one by enactment, dance and song.

Sariska, Nov. 25, 2016: An exhilarating educational trip to Astroport, Sariska, Rajasthan, was organised for students of classes VI to VIII form November 24 to November 25, 2016. A group of 82 students and 7 teachers went to Astroport, the first Astronomy themed resort and active Centre of India and South Asia. At the serene camp site, the young budding astronomers stayed in large tents and got exposure to several astronomical activities such as Night Sky Observation, Sky Map & Plan Sphere Reading, Constellation Watch, Planet Viewing and Telescope Usage. Besides, they got an opportunity to learn about Organic Farming and Drip Irrigation at the camp site. The most thrilling and adventurous experience was the Jungle Safari at the Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary wherein they got a glimpse of the flora and fauna of that place. Their experience with the most amazing wild animals and birds will be etched in their minds forever.

New Delhi, Nov. 21, 2016: Around 400 students, along with teachers, visited the ISKCON Temple for attending a Value Fest. The programme was initiated by ‘darshan’ wherein the students invoked Lord Krishna by chanting ‘Hare Krishna Mahamantra’ and joined in the revelry of worshipping Lord Krishna. Next, they were taken to the auditorium wherein HG Ajit Govinda Das Prabhu addressed them and explained about our biggest enemies including lust, greed envy, etc. Students were also shown two movies – one on the life of Lord Krishna ‘Little Krishna’ and another describing ‘Life of Hell’. Later, there was a quiz named ‘Kaun Banega Krishna Ke Devotee’ which the students enjoyed thoroughly. Lastly, HG Mohan Rupa Prabhu, the Temple President, spoke to the students, inspiring them with his words. Thereafter, lunch prasad was served. Overall, it was an enriching experience for both the students and the teachers.

Twenty students from the Band Troop of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park participated in the Centre Level Science Exhibition 2016 to honour the guests at the RPVV School, Vasant Kunj.
