Noida, December 15, 2019: A team of ten students accompanied by two faculty members from St. Patrick’s College, Jaffna, Sri Lanka, visited India under the India-Sri Lanka Student Exchange Programme from December 9 - 15, 2019. They were hosted by Apeejay School, Noida, where they observed day-to-day scholastic and co-scholastic learning activities.

The visiting team was greeted by the School band and awarded a floral welcome by the School Principal, Mr AK Sharma. After the hoisting of the School flags, the team was invited to be a part of a Special Assembly on Human Rights Day. The senior students from St. Patrick’s College, Jaffna, were given hands-on experience in Physics and Chemistry labs.

A workshop on ‘Artificial Intelligence and 3D Printing’ was also attended by the team. This was conducted in the School’s Atal Tinkering Lab in collaboration with STEMROBO. Mr Gaganpreet Singh, Senior Technical & Program Lead and Ms Gaurishah Bhatnagar, Technical & Program Lead, conducted the workshop which aimed to explain what AI is. It talked about the history, platforms, education and partnership in AI. The uses of 3D printer and its working principles were also explained. The workshop concluded with the demonstration of a 3D printer which allowed the students to see the practical example of the topic.

In the Computer class, they learnt valuable information on the development of websites. Visitors from Sri Lanka were given rich exposure of the diverse Indian culture by the Primary and Pre-Primary Departments. Friendly Sports Matches in Football and Cricket were played between the two schools. The visitors were taught Block Painting in the Art and Craft class.

It was heartening to see the excitement among them in making various designs on cloth bags. For physical and mental well-being of the team members from St. Patrick’s College, Jaffna, valuable tips were given on Meditation and Yoga. Astronomy Club of Apeejay School, Noida, engaged the guests in star gazing through telescopes.
The students and teachers appreciated the architectural (marvels) monuments in Delhi like India Gate & Qutub Minar and were enthusiastic to see glimpses of regional art and craft at Delhi Haat. The team was also shown the innovative ideas at the Waste to Wonder Park.

The team from Sri Lanka also had a very fruitful interaction with Dr Sandeep Marwah at the Marwah Studio, Film City, and was enlightened about the prospects in Media & Communication as one of the career options.

Before their departure to Sri Lanka, Srilankan students had a pleasant experience of staying at the residence of their Indian counterparts. They got to know rich family tradition and customs of Indian communities. The Exchange Programme was an extremely enriching experience for the students of both the countries as the students gained deep knowledge about each other’s’ culture, cuisine and traditions.

Agra, Oct. 13, 2018: Just to travel is platitudinous, but to travel with a purpose is educational and exciting. With this view in mind, an educational trip to Agra was organised for the students of Class IV on October 13, 2018. The morning air was filled with excitement as children trooped in the AC bus coach. After seeking the blessings of the Lord Almighty, about 70 students with 9 teacher-in-charges boarded two buses and embarked on their journey.

On reaching their destination, students took a tour to Fetehpur Sikri, Agra Fort and Taj Mahal. Post lunch, students visited Fatehpur Sikri by coach. This majestic building was built by the Mughal Emperor, Akbar, in 1569 and it was a place where architectural styles converged into a new strain. The next day, students also visited an immense mausoleum of white marble - 'Taj Mahal' which represents the finest architectural and artistic achievement through perfect harmony and excellent craftsmanship.

The trip was a wonderful learning experience for the students as they returned home more aware, confident and responsible as values of sharing, caring & team spirit percolated stronger in their character.
