Jalandhar, Aug 27, 2022: Lakshit Pusri of Class VI bagged the First prize in the Open State Level Chess Tournament. The Tournament was held on 27 and 28 August at Satyug Darshan Academy. He became the Under-11 State Champion and got selected for National Under-11 to be held in November at Haryana (Gurugram).

A special assembly was organised to felicitate the medal winners in various categories of SOF and Spell Bee. Principal, Mr. Malkiat Singh, awarded Medals to the outstanding students and congratulated them for their achievements.

Sports Authority of India is celebrating this year’s National Sports Day, as part of the FIT INDIA campaign, through pan-India sports events with the theme of Sports as an enabler for an inclusive and fit society.

As part of the Meet The Champion Programme, the Sports Authority of India selected Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar to be a part of the campaign. With the benevolent blessings of Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Education, our school had the proud privilege to once again welcome Manpreet Singh, Captain of the Indian Hockey Team. He was accorded a warm welcome in the school campus by the Principal Mr. Malkiat Singh.

'Meet the Champions' is a unique school visit campaign initiated by the PM of India.

The event at Apeejay School, Model Town, began with a cultural programme presented by the students of the school. Captain Manpreet Singh interacted enthusiastically with the students answering their questions. He informed the students about healthy food choices, training programmes and fitness goals. He also encouraged them to play games as part of their normal routine. He also inspired the students to imbibe healthy lifestyle and food habits.

There was a quiz session for the students where they answered questions put up by Manpreet Singh. The students who gave the correct answers received personally autographed T-shirts from the Olympian.

The star player spent a great deal of time with the students inspiring them to keep fit, eat healthy and play a sport. The captain of the Hockey Team even played Basketball with the students. He also visited all the classes to interact with the students personally.

We are proud to announce that Hridhaan Chawla bagged the First position in Punjab Open Chess Championship in Under-9 category.

Tanish Bakshi won the runner-up Under-13 category medal and certificate at the District Tournament of Badminton held at Raizada Hansraj Stadium. Another student, Gurang Chawla too reached quarter-finals. He was appreciated with Medal and Certificate.

Parth Chopra student of Class VII D got a medal and a trophy for his outstanding performance in badminton at Gymkhaana Club and Stadium respectively.

The Principal, Mr Malkiat Singh congratulated the budding sports enthusiasts and wished them luck for the future.
