Apeejay Students win the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Jalandhar, May 2016: Students from the Department of Multimedia of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar brought laurels by winning the prestigious 'Dadasaheb Phalke Award' for 'Valley of Living Gods' in the genre of the Best Documentary in the students' category. The College Principal, Dr. Sucharita, heartily congratulated the winners and shared that the students have made the College proud by shining its name throughout the nation. In total, 245 documentaries were shortlisted out of 800 in this category but the bone breaking hard work of the College students proved its worth and made a journey to reach the top. The documentaries were judged by eminent personalities like Mr. G.L. Bhardwaj, National Award Winning Veteran Film Maker, Mumbai, Mr. Jaideep Chopra, Film Director, New Delhi, Mr. Igor Amin, Director, Brazil and Mr. D.C. Singh, Academician, Film Researcher and Producer, New Delhi.

In the documentary, 'Valley of Living Gods' the students depicted the rituals of Dussehra as performed in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. This magnificent documentary was directed by Aman Sharma of B.M.M. (Sem. VI). Gurukaranbir Singh Bath & Giriraj Singh of B.M.M. (Sem. VI) were the cameramen and Rishab Garg of B.M.M. (Sem. VI) performed the duty of the Assistant Cameraman. The voice over was performed by Aayush Garg of BCA (Sem. VI) and the beautiful script was written by Ms. Ankita Sehgal of B.F.A. (Sem. VI).

Dr. Sucharita also highly appreciated the efforts and guidance provided by the faculty members of the Department of Multimedia to these students.
