New Delhi, Oct. 4, 2015: Aligned to the countrywide mission of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and ‘Jaago Grahak Jaago’, Apeejay Stya University and Apeejay Education Society in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) participated in the Surakshit Khadya Abhiyan - safe food walkathon at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.

As part of the corporate social responsibility of the Apeejay Stya Group, the initiative included a pan India food safety awareness & capacity building campaign to strengthen nationwide action on ‘safe food for all’. The Walkathon was led by Symphony, the band of Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai who were followed by over 2300 participants including senior citizens, civilians, statesmen and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Satish Kapoor, Founder Director, Brotherhood, commented: "This festival spreads awareness on disability issues through the medium of films which are effective in changing the mindset of the audience".

“This film festival is a reflection of the values that Apeejay promotes and imbibes in its students - in this case, disability. We don't confine the festival to the students of the institution but also try to reach out to other students of different schools/colleges”, said Prof. Ashok Ogra, Director, Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication.

A photography and painting exhibition was also organised on the theme of disability. School students of the nearby areas were invited to attend the film festival so that they could be sensitised about the issue from an early age.

The festival was organised in association with ‘Brotherhood’ along with the support of UNESCO, National Trust and the UN Information Centre.
