Time TableThe whole day is divided into nine periods, the classes start with a Zero Period wherein attendance of the student is taken and unit tests are also carried out in the same period. After the Zero Period, eight periods are scheduled for different subjects according to the time table set at the beginning of the session.
Teaching & Learning StrategyA happy childhood forms the foundation for a strong and happy nation. Therefore, child-centered education has been given the top priority in the School curriculum. For this, it is essential to develop a warm, healthy and close knit relationship between the teachers and taught, in order to draw out the latent potentials in the child. The following teaching-learning strategies have been adopted in the curriculum:
- Communication skills are promoted through group or pair work
- Children are given opportunities to analyse and differentiate facts
- Learning by doing is encouraged
- Emphasis on value education through correlation between academic content and real life values
- Emphasis on group discussion and reasoning
- Use of new words to enrich vocabulary and stress on correct pronunciation
- Questionnaire, demonstrations and focus on hands-on learning
Value-Based EducationValue based education is the foundation of character and moral development of the child. The consciousness of values must permeate the whole curriculum and programme of activities in the school. Value based education should be an integral part of a school curriculum instilling timeless values in children. This will make the students confident, competitive, well groomed, emotionally stable, humanitarian, sympathetic, progressive, tolerant as well as disciplined. Value based programmes like quizzing on lives of great men, performances of parables based on values, celebration of various festivals, Street Plays, Value Based Discussions in the class, visits to orphanages, special schools, Institutions for differently abled children, therefore, are the core of entire curriculum at Apeejay.
Evaluation & Assessment
The Assessment in Class I is done through regular Recapitulation Worksheets and Recapitulation Weeks. For Classes II onwards there are two Unit Assessments and two Term Assessments. The focus of assessment is on recapitulation and application of knowledge. Regular grading is done throughout the year.
