The Students’ Council conducted a drive for the collection and recycling of old newspapers. They motivated the students to bring old newspapers to the School. This newspaper was sold to the recycler by the council members and the money collected thus was used to procure notebooks and writing material for the children at Gayatri Gyan Mandir. They exhibited their deep rooted values and humility when they distributed these on 6th September 2013 among the students

Students are encouraged to donate books for the underprivileged. They visited Gayatri Gyan Mandir on 18th August 2013 and distributed story books & comics such as Hindi Amar Chitra Katha amongst the children. They also narrated few stories and encouraged the students to read the books so that they can also enjoy reading and learning.

Students of classes IX and X of the School have also decided to devote one hour each day during their summer vacation to teach these students and share their valuable experiences with them.

Book Donation and Story Telling

Seeing the joy and gratitude on the faces of the recipients when they were given new shoes, the next project undertaken was ‘Sacrifice One Packet of Chips’ to procure winter clothes for the underprivileged children. Parents were advised not to send the money from their side; instead they were asked to send the value of one packet of chips only when their child willingly sacrificed eating the same for the benefit of those in need. Students distributed winter clothes and 100 pairs of woollen caps, mufflers and gloves on 18th December 2013. This made the students realise the benefit of collective work and enabled them to be sensitive to those in need.
