As one of the best primary international schools in Greater Noida, Apeejay International School follows the concept of Integrated Inter-Discipline Teaching in the Primary section. In Integrated Inter-Discipline Teaching (IIT), a thematic, activity-based teaching and learning process is being followed. In this, all subjects take on a central theme and all teaching & activities are centered on this theme. The teaching-learning process comprises:
- A monthly introductory lecture at the beginning of every month where the theme of the month is introduced to the students.
- A daily activity based on the theme understudy is conducted to ensure permanence of knowledge through experiential learning. It is ensured that each subject has had a theme-centric activity in the week.
- Regular CAL (Computer Aided Learning) classes also help students to understand and revise the concepts.
The idea behind this concept is to ensure permanence of knowledge and total multi-discipline comprehension of the topic being taught. Since the same topic is being covered in all the subjects, it will encourage the students to innovate and research applying ideas learnt in one subject to another.
The proposed programme is beneficial for both the teachers as well as the students as it leads to greater co-ordination and co-operation amongst the teachers through and to cross-discipline use of teaching aids and to fuller comprehension by the students.
IIT Monthly Class Lectures (Classes II – V)
The theme of the month is introduced by an introductory lecture/presentation by teachers in rotation in various classes and sections. This prepares the students for the activities and learning that lie ahead.
