french-day-2015

Apeejay Svran Global School celebrated the National Day of France, better known as Bastille Day or Le Quatorze Juillet, commemorating the Storming of the Bastille (culmination of a violent revolution in Paris) on 14 July 1789.

The event started with a brief introduction of the history of France followed by a description of the ‘French Revolution’. A traditional French song ‘Allouete’ was also sung by the children and a small play enacted by students on the life of Joan d’arc, a heroic figure of France. Joan of Arc, a peasant girl living in medieval France, believed that God had chosen her to lead France to victory in its long-running war with England. The students further showcased their talents by presenting a French classical ballet. It was a great learning experience for all the students.
