The following activities were done:

  • In Class I, the students were asked to list their objectives as well as expectations from this hobby class.
  • Items required in a sewing kit were listed and students were asked to bring the same to school.

  • Hand Sewing: Basic Stitching and Techniques - Running stitch, back stitch, button hole / blanket stitch
  • 9 hand stitches for basic sewing
  • Hand sewing basics
  • Hands on session – students folded all sides of a piece of cloth with running stitch
  • Hands-on Session – students folded all sides of the above piece of cloth with hemming stitch
  • Hands-on Session – Sewing on shirt buttons
  • Hands-on Session – Basic embroidery stitches samples were made:

  2. Lazy Daisy

  4. Cross Stitch
  5. Button Hole Stitch
  6. Feather Stitch – Single and double sided

  • Hands on Session – Pillow making without using a sewing machine

This club is dedicated to getting students and the community to become more active in their surroundings. Members of the Environmental Awareness Club learn basic environmental problems that are affecting our Earth and community, and strive to make a change


Use of Waste Material

Upcycling is “the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value.” Students used newspaper, pencil shavings, colours, wool, threads and other waste material to make file covers displaying their creativity.

Posters on Eco-Awareness

This series consists of posters promoting environmental protection and conservation. The posters, many of which include considerable amounts of text, along with images, emphasise the conservation of natural resources, including water, soil, wetlands, grazing lands, and wildlife.

Eco-Friendly Diwali

Students celebrated eco-friendly Diwali and made environment-friendly rangoli.

  • Used oil diyas instead of candles.
  • Made rangoli with flowers, natural colours, or rice flour.
  • Re-used existing cardboard boxes from home.
  • Gave a handmade gift.
  • Wrapped your gifts in newspaper.

Pollution Catcher

Took a paper plate and smear petroleum jelly (Vaseline) on it. Hang the plate outside your home for 10 days and then observed the result. Recorded their observation and brought the plate with them to school to show it to their friends. Students made these pollution catchers in school and placed them at different places. They observed less pollution in the covered areas and green areas.

  • Identifying simple agricultural implements and tools
  • Organic farming and its benefits
  • Learning about medicinal plants
  • Understanding the difference between compost and vermi-compost.
