Chandigarh, Jan. 2017: Apeejay School of Architecture and Planning, Greater Noida organised a three-day educational trip to Chandigarh for its first year B. Arch. students accompanied by faculty members. The students visited the Chandigarh college of Architecture, Capitol Complex, Govt. Museum, Le Corbusier Centre, Gandhi Bhawan, Sector 17 Plaza, Rock Garden, Pinjore Garden, etc.
The highlight of the visit, however, was Baba Banda Sahib War Memorial wherein they got an opportunity to interact with the chief architect of the project, Ar. Renu Khanna. The students were greatly awed and inspired by Ar. Renu who shared with the students fine details of the project right from the history behind the Chappar Chiri to how she went about conceptualising the design and getting the project executed on ground.
Students also learnt about the history of Chandigarh and the Chandigarh College of Architecture by the Dean of CCA, Prof. J.P. Singh. The students found the trip quite informative & knowledgeable and were inspired by the City and Le Corbusier.
Kudos to the faculty who accompanied the students to Chandigarh and made this educational excursion memorable and purposeful!
