Greater Noida, February 23, 2019: The newest and most innovative event for the architectural fraternity, ‘Apeejay Festival of Ideas by Ignited Minds’ (AFIIM) was held at the Apeejay Institute of Technology, Greater Noida campus, on 22nd & 23rd February 2019. It was a two-day long celebration of innovative ideas and creating environmental awareness. The event saw participation of students of Architecture colleges from all over India including Apeejay Institute of Design, Amity University, Design Zone, Vastukala Academy, Sharda University, IATP Bundelkhand University, etc.
The festival included talks from eminent architects such as Ashok B Lall, Charanjit Shah, Vinod Gupta, Nilanjan Bhowal, Neelam Manjunath, Scott B Knox, and many more. Srijan Pal Singh, Founder of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Centre, was the key speaker. Architect Vijay Garg, President of Council of Architecture, was the Chief Guest. Mr Dinesh Rai was the Guest of Honour for the occasion. There was also a welcome address by Prof. Vivek Sabherwal, Director of Apeejay School of Architecture and Planning, wherein he stressed upon the need of sustainability and energy efficiency in building design. He urged the crowd, of about more than five hundred students, to celebrate innovation and be intoxicated with ideas.

The students had the opportunity to listen to panel discussions of the invited guests. Apart from the discussions, architectural works from celebrated architects like Christopher Benninger, Jaisim Rao, Ashok B Lall, Charanjit Shah and NilanjanBhowal were displayed on unique bamboo panels which were assembled by the students of Apeejay School of Architecture and Planning. There was also a section dedicated to Master Architect Frank Llyod Wright and his works. The festival stressed upon putting waste material to use, which reflected in the unique art installations & decorations within campus and the stage made entirely from bamboo, assembled by the students of Apeejay School of Architecture and Planning.
The two-day event was a multi-dimensional programme involving a host of competitions, workshops and seminars. A large maze was created by the students, highlighting environment awareness and was appreciated by all. Two of the Design competitions also had prize money amounting to Rs 30,000 – namely, Prof. Charanjit Singh Smart Habitat Foundation Award and Dr Prem Jain Energy Award. There were also seminars by ArNeelam Manjunath and Ar Udit Gaurav. The workshops gave the participants a hands-on experience, whether it was origami, photography or Lippan Art.
During the cultural show, students also put up a great display of their sensitivity towards the environment, be it the fashion show or group dance performances. The second day concluded with a band performance and the event ended on a high and memorable note.
