Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication to organise a three-day Faculty Development Program on ‘Data Journalism’ from 19 – 21 December 2019
Journalism is increasingly becoming digitised and with the rise in popularity of infographics, data visualisation techniques have become a key skill for today’s journalists. Whether you have years of experience as a journalist behind you, or are just starting out, data skills are a must if you want to stay on top of this rapidly changing environment.
This three-day workshop will help you achieve this, guiding you through the essentials of data journalism; from spreadsheet basics, finding stories within the numbers, to eventually building them into a visual representation. The workshop will be covering the basics of Data Journalism and spreadsheets, with mapping of the stories found within the data.
Objective of the FDP
This FDP will help you unlock the powerful world of Data Journalism to tell deep, insightful stories. You’ll learn to find, analyse, interpret and visualize data in compelling new ways.
Meet with the faculty members and scholars interested in Data Journalism, in order to see where we are & how we could benefit from each other and what the next steps would be.
Who Should Join
Faculty / Scholars interested in Data Journalism, teachers working on online stories, teachers working with graphics, statisticians, online editors, etc.
The sessions would be interactive, real context based and open ended to encourage feedback. They are aimed at inspiring faculty to think, create and understand from their deeper selves & share with the students.
