Exploring Global Frontiers

ISTE Conference, Philadelphia, USA – June 2011

1The project “Mission Synergy” undertaken by Apeejay School in collaboration with HP Innovations in Education program and ISTE culminated at ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) 2011 conference, held at Philadelphia, US from June 26-June 29, 2011. Apeejay School, Noida was represented at the conference by Mrs. Supriya Srivastava (Vice Principal) and Mrs. Divya Jain (PGT Computer Science).

 

JENESYS Programme 2011

siddharthSiddhartha Raju (XII B) attended a 10 day Youth Exchange Programme in Japan, with a group of 22 students from other schools from 26th of November to the 5th of December under the JENESYS (Japan East Asia Network of Exchange for Student and Youths) programme to strengthen the mutual understanding among youth in East Asian countries. During the trip he visited Keio University and interacted with the local Japanese students. He also visited Miyazaki, a small city close to Tokyo where he spent six days and also saw Mount Fuji and Hitotsba Beach. He stayed in the cottages of the hotel HIMUKA with the host families for two days. He learnt about the culture and customs of Japan like the Tea Ceremony and Ikebana (flower arrangement) of Japan. He learnt KENDO(a form of sword fighting) which is a traditional Japanese sport and also Calligraphy. During the programme, the group also visited the Peace Tower at Miyazaki Science Centre and Ohmiya High School. He was selected to meet the Principal of the School. In TOKYO, he made a presentation at KIEO University about their trip to MIYAZAKI.

 

Visit to Manchester (2009-10)

Under UKIERI Project six teachers from Apeejay cluster visited Manchester between 23rd June and 30th June. The members were grouped in a team of two and assigned different topics and school.

Mrs. Samra (Principal, Apeejay School, Faridabad) & Mrs. Manju Thareja (Incharge- Primary, Apeejay School, NOIDA) conducted ‘Yoga, Meditation & Spiritualism In India’ Class for Year/Classes 4, 5 &6. The meaning of ‘Yoga’, its origin and importance with examples from scriptures were discussed. The Yogic postures were demonstrated especially those which are good for children. During the interaction, students shared beautiful feelings they had experienced (calmness, peace, sleeps, relaxing, etc) while doing meditation/ postures and the teachers showed keen interest in the subject.

Management Students From AIESEC Visit Apeejay School, Noida (2009-10)

Students from United Kingdom, Finland and China visited Apeejay School, Noida on a month visit on July 15th. A discussion was organized on HIV awareness in senior block and cultural interaction programme in Primary and Middle blocks.

Ms. Allison Frykman of Gunn High School, Palo Alto, USA visited the school on 3rd August 2009. Students welcomed her with bouquet and Tilak. She took round of the school and interacted with senior students.
