CELEBRATIONS ANNUAL DAY (16th April ‘08)  
Annual Day was held on the 16th of April’ 08 in the school which was a  shimmering and exciting event. With the setting of the sun, Apeejay grounds rose and basked in the brilliance of the Annual Day celebrations cherished as ‘Eclectica’. Shri Vijay Nahata, Municipal Commissioner, NMMC, graced the function with his benign presence. Joining him for the occasion were the members of the extended Apeejay family, Mrs. and Mr. C. Jayson, Director Apeejay Schools, Navi Mumbai; Mrs. Samra, Principal Apeejay, Faridabad and Mr. Alok Katdare, Principal, Apeejay, Kharghar and many other dignitaries. Dr. Stya Paul, Founder and Chairman, Apeejay Education Society sent word to all parents and teachers elucidating his vision of seeing their wards soaring high.The Principal’s report and the Prize Awarding Ceremony was an attempt to enumerate and recognize the countless achievements and distinctions scored by the Apeejayites at the District, State, National and International level. The student performers conducted themselves with great pride and aplomb, laying out stellar performances at the main attraction of the evening, “The Sound of Music” – adapted from the 1965 movie which won 5 Oscars and is regarded as an all time classic. The audiences were enthralled and spell bound as the country sides of Austria was recreated at the school grounds. This was followed by mesmerizing choreography presenting the elements of nature in a dance form. The climax of the dance which brought together these elements in unity was vividly captured.

International Youth Day
(12th  August ‘08)
On 12th August’ 08, the International Youth Day, residents of Navi Mumbai witnessed the students of class IX of Apeejay School, Nerul at their creative best during their performance in the Youth empowerment campaign at Palm Beach Galleria Mall, Vashi. This show was a part of their Adolescence Education Programme (AEP). Songs like Numb, Aashayein, and Life is what you make it, etc, which reflect the pulse of the youth, were used as an effective tool to draw the audience. Placards displaying messages like, ‘Drugs are retarded so don’t get started’, ‘to smoke is no joke, don’t buy that lie’, ‘Stay alive, don’t drink and drive’ etc. captivated the audience. Through a play the students introduced a unique ASK formula (A stands for Asking students, S stands for Saying no, and K stands for Knowing Alternatives) which was meant to educate the youth and enlighten them to choose between right and wrong. A Powerpoint presentation on the ill effects of cigarette smoking, drinking, and other bad habits, which are common among the youth in the world over, was simultaneously shown during the play.

At the end of the programmme Dr. (Mrs.) MR Shipley, Vice Principal, Apeejay School, Nerul said that one should have the courage and inner conviction to say NO to the consumption of such hazardous substances even in the most difficult situations.  ‘Rather than resorting to drugs and alcohol in an attempt to blind oneself from reality, the best solution would be to attack one’s problem oneself’, advised Mrs. Shipley. The show concluded with a pledge taken by the students assembled in the mall and teachers of the school that they would refrain from smoking, drinking, drug addiction and other harmful activities. The programme was a grand success. Viewers in the feedback form did not hesitate to give a 100/100 for the brilliant performance of the students. They wrote that these awareness programmes are eye-openers and the need of the hour.

Independence Day (15th August ‘08)
The 61st Independence of India was celebrated with much enthusiasm and vigour in Apeejay School, Nerul.The programme began with the hoisting of the Tricolour accompanied by the singing of the National Anthem. Mr. C Jayson, Director of Apeejay Schools, Navi Mumbai hoisted the flag and addressed the gathering which comprised students, teachers and parents. He emphasized on the role of the individual and the youth in the progress of the nation. Children sang melodious songs to remind us of the leaders who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence. The primary and secondary children performed vibrant dances. The senior students organized a talk show. The topic for the same was ‘India is plagued with too much Democracy’.

Teachers’ Day (5th  September ‘08)
We celebrate Dr. Radhakrishnan’s Birthday as Teacher’s Day. This year too, Teacher’s Day was celebrated in Apeejay School with a lot of enthusiasm. All the teachers were felicitated by the students with bouquets. Students of different classes performed skits, dances and songs. The programme was organized by the students of XI and XII and was a grand success.

International Literacy Day (8th September ‘08)
The students of Apeejay School, Nerul celebrated International Literacy Day on 8th of September, 2008. An inter-class competition for class VIII was held in the school where each class had to present a skit, songs and power point presentation within a time limit of 10-15 min. The competition was adjudged by our Vice-Principal Dr. (Mrs.) M R Shipley. The classes covered different aspects of literacy-like the programmes launched by the governments as well as the NGOs were highlighted through the programmes. There was tough competition among the different sections of class VIII, where ultimately the students of IX D and VIII D emerged as the winners. The programme concluded with an enriching speech on the importance of literacy by the Vice-Principal.

Hindi Week
(15th–20th September ‘08)

“Hindi Diwas” was celebrated from 15th to 20th September, 2008. Various  programmes were held everyday  in the school  in Hindi, which included the following:

Some Class programmes which were organized during this week were, Poem Writing, Essay Writing, Handwriting Competition, Slogan Writing and Story Telling.

Preservation of the Ozone Layer (18th September ‘08)
International Day for the preservation of the Ozone Layer was   celebrated on the 18th of September ’08, where students made beautiful, informative charts on the Ozone Layer and displayed them on the display boards outside their classes. They were made aware of the ill effects caused due to depletion of the ozone layer and ways to preserve it.

International Day of Non Violence (2nd   October ‘08)
Gandhi Jayanti and International Day of Non Violence was celebrated in Apeejay School, Nerul in high spirits in the morning assembly. The programme started with a prayer, thought, birthday song, news followed by a briefing  on the life of Gandhiji and the singing of ‘Vaishnav Jayanti’. Students spoke on International Day of Non- Violence which was followed by a pledge to practise non-violence and spread love and peace everywhere. Shramdaan was conducted in all the classes in the last period where the students cleaned their classrooms.

Founder’s Day (4th October ’08)
4th October, the birthday of our beloved president Dr. Stya Paul was celebrated as Founder’s Day in a simple ceremony reflecting his vision enshrined in the Apeejay motto – Soaring High is My Nature. The Special assembly organized for the occasion commenced with a prayer by the school choir followed by a birthday song as a befitting tribute to our worthy president. . The Vice-Principal, Mrs.(Dr.) M.R.Shipley then elucidated the illustrious life of Dr. Stya Paul, chronicling his meteoric rise from humble beginnings to unparalleled success and repute. She also enlightened the assembly on the life of Dr. Stya Paul  who is an industrialist, educationist, freedom fighter and a philanthropist of the highest order. The director, Mr. C. Jayson, then read the Vice- President’s message.  Mrs. Berlia  in her message emphasized upon Dr. stya Pual’s golden ideal of ‘Simple  living and high thinking’ and his peerless achievements.

A play was also presented on the occasion highlighting the importance of human values like honesty, patriotism and belief in oneself. The apeejay fraternity wishes our father figure and Beacon of Light a long life to inspire and guide us for many more years.
The coveted Dr. Stya Paul Awards for excellence in values were given. The academic toppers of classes VI – IX and XI awarded scholarships. Students who secured above 92% in the aggregate in Class X, students who secured 100% in Maths and students who secured 100% in Sanskrit were also awarded President’s Financial Incentive. Certificates were given to the students identified amongst top 0.1% in AISSCE and AISSE 2008. Founder’s Day celebration was concluded with distribution of snacks to the whole school.

Fundamental Duties Day (3rd of January ‘09)
Apeejay School, Nerul celebrated the Fundamental Duties Day on 3rd of January in the school premises. The participants of this event were the students of Class VII. The students perfomed a skit, a song and a power point presentation under the guidence of our Vice Principal Mrs.Shipley. The tolics assigned to class VII-A were ‘ To respect the constitution, national flag and national anthem and ‘To continue to cherish the ideals of non-violence, democracy and secularism. Class VII-B performed on the topics,’To abstain from all forms of violence and safeguard public property” and ‘To foster harmony among all communities.’ ‘ To defend our country and render national services when required’ and ‘To protect and save our environment’, to class VII-C and ‘To cherish the ideals of freedom fighters’ and ‘To develop a scientific attitude and strive for excellence in all spheres.’ were given to class VII-D . This was followed by power point presentation of all the classes conducted in the multipurpose hall. The 4th position was won by class VII-A . The 3rd position was won by class VII-C and the 2nd position by class VII-B. The grand event ended with Class VII - D emerging as the winner.

Annual Prize Distribution (19th of January ‘09)
Annual Prize Distribution ceremony was held in the school on the 19th of Jan’09. Prizes and certificates were given to students who excelled and secured positions in various Inter- house Literary, Debate and Cultural Competitions held during the academic year. Certificates were also given to students who excelled in academics. Prizes for the best turned out boy and girl from the junior and senior groups, the trophy for the Best Kept Class in the Primary, Secondary and Senior Secondary Sections as well as the Best Class Magazine for the Junior, Middle and Senior Group for the year 2008-09 were also given. Prize Distribution for the Inter house Sports and Games events held during the session 2007-08 was also distributed. For sports, the overall championship Trophy was won by Nalanda House. The chief guest for the function was Mr. C Jayson, Director, Apeejay Schools, Navi Mumbai, along with parents of recipients of President’s Gold Medal, Silver Medal and Jagannath Medal for Commerce topper.

Republic Day
(26th January ‘09)
The school celebrated 60th Republic Day on 26th January 2009 . In the programme presented for the occasion the little ones danced to the tune of the song ‘Imagine’ and enacted the recent events like the train blasts, WTC attack and Taj shooting and delicted the victory to peace our terrorism through a song ‘We are the world’ we and the childrenThe programme was also performed at D.Y.Patil Sports Academy on 26th January in the evening as a part of the Navi Mumbai Festival organized by CIDCO. The programme and the props like the train, the WTC building and the Taj dining tables which the children carried were much appreciated.

Global Peace Day (26th January’09)
Our concern for increasing need is to sensitize our children towards the prevailing threat of terrorism. As part of this endeavor, we observed Republic Day in a manner befitting the theme “Say No TO Terrorism”. A Comprehensive Global Peace Programme, spreading the message of peace was performed by the Primary children in mass drill and saree drill. This event gave us the opportunity to help our children cultivate a multi cultural vision  and a belief in peace.

Science Day    27th February ‘09
Science Day was observed on 27th February 2009 wherein students of Classes III , IV and V displayed various working models on circulatory and nervous systems, experiments to prove that  oxygen supports combustion, on emulsion, eclipse and plant life.

Pre-Primary Appreciation Day (4th April ‘09)
The Tiny-tots of the Pre-Primary showcased the talent on the stage of Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium for the Appreciation day. The musical extravaganza has the little ones invoke blessing of Goddess Saraswati through a dance, song and voice their curiosity and emote through the play ‘The Pied Piper’.

Primary Open Day 24th April ‘09
A grand OPEN HOUSE was held on 24th April 2009. All the departments showcased various projects and working models.
