FOUNDATION COURSE (common to all specializations) The Foundation course is designed to help students to develop a basic learning about Art and Design. The course features a series of introductory prospects, focusing on the core disciplines of Drawing, observation skills and technical expertise. This includes a wide range of different subject areas, theoretical and studio based namely Elements of Design, 3-D Workshops, Method & Materials, Lens and Print based Media. The skill and experience acquired during the foundation course helps an individual to make strong judgement in their specialized design areas. Besides, training at Apeejay Institute of Design inculcates amongst our students basic human values, ability to appreciate other person’s opinion, understanding the dynamics and benefits of team work, which grooms them into human beings ready to take on any challenge awaiting them in the outside world. INTERIOR DESIGN An Interior Design graduate may choose to work for residential or commercial sector or else they can specialize in specific areas such as Retail, Hospitality and Exhibition Design. A student can start their career as an Assistant Designer, Project Assistant which can provide them numerous outlets for creative expression, they can benefit immensely by interacting with wide variety of Professionals they deal with on various projects and later can specialize in a specific area and develop their own style. FASHION DESIGN The contemporary fashion industry is changing at an accelerated pace, keeping the designer fraternity under constant pressure to innovate and create something new every hour. To add to this phenomenon, newer developments in production and information technology has markedly shortened the journey of a design from sketch to finished garment in a retail outlet. Moreover, Fashion brands are diversifying into newer product areas increasing the demand for well-trained and versatile Design professionals. A Fashion Design graduate to-day can take on a variety of fashion related careers such as Fashion Buyers, Stylists, Photographers, Visual Merchandisers and so on. Even more so since there are many more Designers, more Brands, more Markets and much more International competition entering Indian Market today than there ever was. Hence, the curriculum of the programme is structured with a global Fashion Industry centric approach, covering not only the creative but also the technical, managerial and administrative facets of Apparel business. At Apeejay Institute of Design we attempt to cater to the ever growing demand for young designers and other personnel, equipped with all the basic skills required for innovation, experimentation and adaptation that the Industry requires. The achievements of our students so far are evidence of our Programme’s success in inculcating a sense of curiosity and infinite possibilities for creation as a designer ADVERTISING MEDIA DESIGN Keeping this recent marketing trend in view the course has been designed to give complete knowledge and competency to the students who are not only capable of designing the advertisement in Print and Electronic Medias but also are able to suggest an effective and innovative media plan for other clients. The curriculum introduces the students to the essentials of Illustration and Typography, for conceptualizing and visualizing for print and electronic advertisement. The student gets an exposure to different softwares, photography, Film Making and Web Designing. The student also acquires an in-depth knowledge on Advertising Media Planning which makes this unique. The course gives students a distinct advantage for employment in advertising agencies, newspaper publications design houses, TV-channels Film Making firms and Educational Institutes etc. VISUAL ART The course is designed holistically to bring out, nurture and further polish a student’s inherent creative potential. A student is exposed to an interesting mix of subjects that help him discover and evolve as an artist such as Drawing & Illustration, Painting, 3-D structure, Print Making, Photography, Video, Computer Graphics, Mural, Portraits and the latest, art installations. This is a skill and creativity oriented course that further strengthens an artist’s visual observation and perception and expression. Students learn to handle and explore various mediums such as Clay, Plaster of Paris, Fibre glass, Scrap and many more. There is a growing demand for Visual Artists owing to the rise in the number of Art galleries and auction houses around the city. There is a strong upswing in Art awareness amongst masses due to more exposure to national and international art through electronic and print media. An art graduate finds numerous opportunities awaiting him in various publishing houses, advertising agencies, freelancing and academics besides working as an independent artist who uses art as a medium for self growth. |
